Want to go on a Uganda Safari? Sir Winston Churchill once described Uganda as the "Pearl of Africa". He was mesmerized by the beauty of this tiny East African country. When you arrive into the country for the first time and depending on the season, you will experience such varied sounds and sights. This varies a lot as you traverse the diffferent regions of the country. There is plenty to offer the tourist;

National parks Safari

  1. Murchison Falls National park: This is largest and perhaps the most popular national park in the country. It is popular with many tourists visiting the country and wanting to see a large number of wildlife in a small location. A Murchison falls tour is definitely a must for any tourist visiting the country for a wildlife safari.
  2. Queen Elizabeth National park: This is the other national park that compares to Murchison falls national park. It sees a huge volume of tourists visiting the country as it lies in region close to the Bwindi national park. It has been acknowledged by UNESCO as a game reserve with one of the richest bio-diversitie in the world in terms of flora and fauna. When doing a Wildlife safari as well as birding, this is a must.
  3. Bwindi Impenetrable forest National park: The world over Bwindi is known for its large number of mountain gorillas in the wild. Gorilla tours Uganda can be done in this park as well as Mgahinga national park. Although the chances of seeing these primates in Mgahinga are very slim as they may move to Rwanda. Gorilla tours in Rwanda can only be done when you secure Rwanda gorilla trekking permits.
  4. Lake Mburo National park: This is the smallest Savannah grassland national park in Uganda and the closest to Uganda. It is mainly populated by herbivores and a few predators. For those wanting to to an African lion safari this is definitely not the place to do it as the small population often cross the border into Tanzania.
  5. Kidepo National Park: Tucked away in the far north Eastern border of Uganda, this the furthest national park from Uganda and convenient access is by charter. How it has a unique vegetation and wildlife species that you might not find in different parts of Uganda. In addition it offers you the chance of seeing the Karamajong - a nomadic people whose culture has not been tainted much by civilization. They are akin to the Masai worriors in Kenya and Tanzania.

I will have to list only a few of the over 10 national parks for now and continue with the rest laters. However, when one talks of an African safari, the countries to consider have predominantly been Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa, Namibia and Egypt. A Uganda safari and Rwanda safari is now one of the hottest deals as you get to see animals and birds that no other parts of Africa has to offer.
